It’s a real challenge: 3 days, 3 mountain ranges.
We start our program in a hotel in Spain, near a village, both of which are unlikely destinations.
On the 1st day, after crossing the border, we’ll visit Almeida, Praça Forte, where we’ll go along some of the most surprising trails found in the region, riding for a few kilometers on the walls of Praça Forte. We’ll pass the River Coa and go up to the Serra da Marofa and then down again for lunch.
At the end of the day, after arriving at the hotel and taking a refreshing bath, we’ll head towards Serra da Estrela which will be our challenge for the next day.
We’ll stay at the Pousada de Belmonte, where we’ll also have dinner and share our stories from the day.
Day 2 is long. We’ll go up Serra da Estrela. Yes, right to the top – 1,993 meters. But before we get there, there’ll be many emotions and surprises. We’ll go up on a Roman road and visit Covão dos Conchos. After lunch our adrenaline levels will go up very high. Of course!
Let’s go down. We’ll arrive at the Pousada for a bath and transfer to Lousã, where we’ll have dinner surrounded by the mountains so that we can begin to get ready for the third mountain range of our program which has also been the stage for many top cycling or motor bike events over the last decade.
In fact, our challenge for the 3rd day is to reach the highest point in the central region and then do one of the most emblematic descents in Europe. The “Avalanche Licor Beirão” route. When we reach the top we’ll have a good meal to refuel, … Then, we just have to go down…
